Team/Task description

Those people are the 2nd level support in the lecture rooms. They are familiar with the equipment that is used during the event and able to fix (nearly) all the issues.

Sit next to the Infodesk to answer accessibility questions that the participants may ask you. Having prior experience with disabilities is a big plus. You will also help attendees collect and assemble hidden disability badges.

All the accessibility info you will need is found in the infopages. When you can't answer a question, the accessibility team will be your second level of support. Infodesk right next to you will provide company and guidance on the ins and outs of first level support.

This type is restricted for angels who received a short introduction and some sensitivity training.

To fulfill this role, you need to be able to process information and have little communication barriers. If you are new to the chaos community, you may want to first become an infodesk angel to get a grasp of the general structure.

This is the generic Angel type used for jobs that can be done by (almost) everyone without any introduction or special qualifications.

Coordination of angel shirt distribution, has the authority in case of doubt takes decision (also about hour limits). People in this role have some years of experience at congress and know the tasks of multiple teams.

Angelshirt angels handout the angel t-shirts (or other goodies) and change the sizes in the system in case the size doesn't fit. The angels ensure that the number of given out shirts reflects also the numbers in the system to keep an overview of remaining amounts of shirts and sizes.

To obtain this angel type you either have worked on past congresses in this role or you had a shift as at the AFOC desk (we always keep some seats without prerequisites). You bring your laptop and have your angelsystem account ready for action.

The introduction for this angel type is only in German.

Diese Engel bedienen Lastenaufzüge um die konstante Getränkeversorgung der Bars sicherzustellen. Zur Benutzung der Lastenaufzüge im Gebäude ist eine Einführung notwendig.

Der Fahrstuhl ist ebenerdig erreichbar und du musst dich während der Schicht in und aus dem Fahrstuhl bewegen und das Bedienpanel bedienen.

The c3auti team supports people in the autistic spectrum on the event. In particular, as Auti Angel you are a contact person in overload-, meltdown- and shutdown situations but can be asked for help with other problems or questions around autism and the autistic spectrum, too.

You should have experience in dealing with autistic people, either as being one yourself or as having spent time together with one.

You should also be able to speak german fluently and english at a decent level.

This type is restricted for angels who are already Auti Trainees and received an additional introduction training.

The c3auti team supports people in the autistic spectrum on the event. In particular, as Auti Angel you are a contact person in overload-, meltdown- and shutdown situations but can be asked for help with other problems or questions around autism and the autistic spectrum, too.

You should have experience in dealing with autistic people, either as being one yourself or as having spent time together with one.

You should also be able to speak german fluently and english at a decent level.

This type is restricted for angels who are already experienced Auti Angels. If you are interested, feel free to please reach out to c3auti coordination.

The Awareness Team provides a point of contact for people to process experiences, discrimination, transgressions, emotional stress and supports them in handling the situation.

This angel type is closed and you will be asked to join the team. Don't call us, we call you!

This group of people is responsible for the smooth operation of the C3VOC infrastructure itself, e.g., cutting and releasing the talks, poking the streams, managing speaker inquiries, and much more. Basically, they resolve all those issues that nobody notices. ;)

Camera angels operate the fixed cameras in the lecture halls.

The main stages have two cameras which are each operated by one camera angel. Camera 1 is usually doing a close-up shot of the speaker and Camera 2 for a wider shot. The video mixer angel will communicate with you via intercom, e.g. to let you know when you’re live and to give instructions what should be visible in the frame.

Constraints:

• Don’t sign up for any back-to-back shifts, except in case of two short talks
• You shouldn’t (please don’t) sign up for more than 2-3 Video-Camera-Angel shifts per day

Notes on the procedure this year

We would like to give every camera angel the opportunity to gain confidence in dealing with our cameras. Since we couldn’t provide enough shifts in the past, we will probably have to limit the amount of camera angels to ensure that every angel can do a handful of shifts during the event.

We especially encourage people that are already experienced with our gear from previous events (also smaller ones like GPN, Easterhegg, …) to register by clicking “join” as soon as you know that you want to support us.

There will be a mandatory introduction meeting at day 0. We’ll confirm your role as angel shortly after the meeting

These are the CERT medical angels. If you want to work here you need to be a Paramedic or have a medical aid training oft at least 48 hours. Please bring this with you or contact blubbel beforehand. We will not confirm you as a CERT Angel if we don't know you. So please, if you changed your nickname or want to help us the first time, contact us.

The CERT admission is responsible to record all patients arriving at CERT in our own system.

For this, two things are required: Baseline medical knowledge and an introduction into our workflows and the system we use to record cases. Because of this, participation in both the general CERT introduction meeting as well as in the briefing how to use our system is needed.

CERT Leitungsdienst

CERT Dispatchers answer emergency calls and coordinate the different CERT units to respond accordingly. To be a CERT Dispatcher you need some experience with the CERT and a qualification as a “Führungskraft” ('team lead' loosely translated) from one of the German Aid Organisations (German Red Cross, German St. Johns….) or from a German fire brigade.

CERT Disponenten beantworten Notrufe, koordinieren die CERT-Arbeit, und fungieren während ihrer Schicht als Einsatzleiter. Um CERT Dispatcher zu werden solltest du zum einen Erfahrung in der Arbeit des CERT haben, zum anderen brauchst du eine offizielle Ausbildung als Führungskraft (mindestens GF) von einer der Hilfsorganisationen oder der Feuerwehr.

These angels volunteer as doctor for CERT. Mostly on-call duty, for which a DECT phone will be provided. We need to see your licence to practise medicine in germany (may be sent beforehand) and your medical ID card at congress. You don't need to have finished any advanced education or specialization.

Diese Engel sind Ärzte im CERT. Arbeit überwiegend in Rufbereitschaft, DECT wird gestellt. Erforderlich: Approbationsnachweis (kann vorab gesendet werden), Arztausweis zum Kongress. Facharzt / Notarzt nicht erforderlich.

This is the CERT Paramedic Team. For this you need at least a qualification and some experience as german “Rettungssanitäter”, “Rettungsassistent”, “Notfallsanitäter” or “Krankenpfleger”. For foreign country qualifications please talk to us directly. Your task will be examining the patients coming to the CERT to decide if they really need a doctor or not. So basically: keeping the workload of our doctors low.

Das CERT Paramedic Team, für welches mindestens die Qualifikation als Rettungssanitäter erforderlich, d.h. alle höherwertigen Qualifikationen wie Rettungsassistenten, Notfallsanitäter und Krankenpfleger (Gesundheits- und Krankenpfleger; GuK) sind auch möglich. Bei Qualifikationen aus dem Ausland sprecht uns bitte direkt an. Eure Aufgabe wird die Sichtung von im CERT eintreffenden Patienten sein und zu entscheiden, ob ein Arzt benötigt wird oder nicht. Also im Grunde: Die Arbeitsbelastung unserer Ärzte gering halten.

Our team for fire and general technical issues. This angel type requires a qualification as firefighter or similar, like technical rescue or disaster relief (e.g. the German Federal Agency for Technical Relief).

Unser Team für Brände und allgemeine technische Probleme. Für diesen Engeltyp braucht ihr eine Ausbildung in der Feuerwehr, dem THW oder anderen technischen Rettungs- und Katastrophenschutzeinheiten.

Ein Chaos Backofficer macht Dinge bei der Chaos Post die wir sonst durch Worklog-Entries abgebildet haben. Es handelt sich hierbei um eine im wesentlichen geschlossene Personengruppe.

This group of people, also called “GodMothers”, manages the team of Mentors and our Mentees.

Responsible Angels for Cloakroom + Lost & Found. Rearranging Cloakroom Areas, troubleshooting bigger issues, intoducing new angels and supporting the experienced Cloakroom Angel.

Verantwortliche Engel für die Garderobe / Lost&Found. Legt die Raumaufteilung der Garderobe fest, kümmert sich um größere Probleme, führt neue Engel in die Garderobe ein und unterstützt die Experienced Cloakroom Angels.

This is a subgroup of the Evacuation Helpers that are staffing a specific position.

If you don't know what this is about, it makes no sense to apply.

This Angel type is required for the first evacuation helper shifts on day 0 and day 1. Please attend the meeting on day 0, 15:00 in Hall G.

Provide support for new Angels in the Cloakroom and take care of the Lost & Found Desk. If you did a couple of shifts on previous congresses come to see us in the cloakroom to get accepted.

Unterstützt neue Engel in der Garderobe und betreut den Lost & Found Desk. Um akzeptiert zu werden, bitte bei uns in der Garderobe vorbeischauen, wenn ihr bereits einige Stunden Garderobenerfahrung habt.

Main Bar Engel bedienen die großen Hauptbars, an denen Tschunk und Spirituosen vorbereitet und ausgeschenkt werden. Aus rechtlichen Gründen müssen alle Main Bar Engel mindestens 18 Jahre alt sein. Die Schichten an den Hauptbars sind länger als normale Barschichten und erfordern daher eine gute Fitness.

Folgende Aufgaben werden dich erwarten (diese Liste erhebt keinen Anspruch auf Vollständigkeit):

• Limetten schneiden
• Kühlschränke und Kühlwägen befüllen
• Allgemeine Aufgaben im Bar Backstage
• Tschunk vorbereiten
• Getränke verkaufen

Experienced Main Bar Angel bist du, wenn du bereits auf einer vergangenen Veranstaltung der CCCV (Congress oder Camp) Main Bar Angel warst. Andere Veranstaltungen (z.B.: GPN) zählen nicht dazu.

Main Bar Angels staff the large main bars preparing and serving Tschunk and liquor. Due to legal reasons, all Main Bar Angels must be at least 18 years old. The shifts on the main bars are longer than usual bar shifts and thus require good fitness.

The following tasks will await you (this list is not exhaustive):

• Cutting limes
• Stocking refrigerators and refrigerated trailers
• General tasks in the bar backstage area
• Preparing Tschunk
• Selling beverages

You are an Experienced Main Bar Angel if you have already served as a Main Bar Angel at a previous CCCV event (Congress or Camp). Other events (e.g. GPN) do not count.

You are the first person to welcome artists, press and speakers because as Part of the „Willkommenszentrum“ you control the tickets and answer the first questions before you show the way or call for other angels to accompany them through the building to their goal. You need to speak German and English.

Du bist die erste Person, mit der Artists, Presse und Speaker sprechen, denn Du kontrollierst als Teil des Willkommenszentrums das Ticket und beantwortest die ersten Fragen, bevor Du den Personen erklärst, wo sie hin müssen oder rufst ihnen andere Engel, die sie durch das Gebäude zu ihrem Zielort begleiten. We support the first contact!

The FOC brings together event-specific textiles and the beings who want to wear them.

As a FOC Coordinator, you should have a good overview of the processes around our merch. You start as a FOC Angel in the Sales or Logistics area and gain experience there. Once you've settled in well and the team notices that you have a good grasp of the overview, you can be invited to FOC coordination. During the event, we only accept new people into this angel type to a limited extent.

You will also unpack boxes, sort merchandise and keep the sales tables stocked. In short, you will do everything possible both at the front of the table and behind it.

After you have gained some experience as a FOC Salesperson, you will be marked as experienced. This allows us to form teams in the shifts consisting of creatures with more and less experience.

The GSM Team operates the private GSM network on the congress.

Heralde führen durch das Programm des Congress. Vor, während und nach den Talks sind sie die Ansprechperson für die Speaker. Da diese Aufgabe entsprechende Vorbereitung benötigt, kann dieser Engeltyp nur von Personen übernommen werden, die sich bereits auf den Call for Heralds gemeldet haben. Solltest du diesen verpasst haben, aber trotzdem Interesse an der Rolle haben, kannst du uns ggf. als Mentee unterstützen. Für alle Heralde ist das Intro Meeting an Tag 0 um 18:00 Uhr in Saal G Pflicht.

Heralds are the main spokespeople and speaker liaison before and during a lecture. Their primary function is to make sure the speaker is introduced, well equipped and speaks no longer than their allotted time. They also do all the necessary announcements and manage the Q&A after a talk, if available. As this task requires appropriate preparation, this type of angel can only be taken on by people who have already responded to the Call for Heralds. If you missed this but are still interested in the role, you can support us as a mentee if necessary. The intro meeting on Day 0 at 18:00h in Hall G is mandatory for all Heralds.

Answer all questions that the participants may ask you. Preferably with the correct answer. :)

Verify rumours and hearsay, and retrieve information via DECT (we have a desk phone, you don't need to bring your own), the congress wiki or the vastness of the internet. Sometimes there is some ritual worshipping required to get the printer to work. Bringing your own (full-size screen) device is strongly recommended. Speaking more than one language is useful, but not strictly required.

This angel type requires a short introduction. Introduction meetings will be held on 📅 Day 0 🕘 9:00 PM 📍 Hall E. Until them pleask ask the Coordinators

You've already gathered some experience as an Infodesk angel and Chaos event participant — as an Infodesk Coordinator, you are our "2nd-level support": You support the Infodesk angels on your shifts if they're ever at a loss for answers, and you handle any more extensive information gathering and coordination with other teams. At times, this may include a lot of communication and possibly also some in-person (re-)search at the event.

Please join us at the Infodesk on Day 0 at 20:00, we'll quickly go over any unusual circumstances and important infos for this year.

Du hast schon Erfahrung am Infodesk und auf Chaos-Veranstaltungen gesammelt und bildest den "Second-Level-Support" am Infodesk. Dazu gehört z.B. Kidspace Angels are contributing to the functioning of the Kidspace. There are two shift types:

1. Kidspace Operation: You enjoy to interact with children of different ages? You would like to contribute in order to make Kidspace a safe space for kids? The volume doesn't bother you? You may have even heard of neurodiversity before? In this case, you may consider contributing to Kidspace while it's up and running. You may be confronted with the following tasks:

• detect, remove or report hazards
• look out for broken or dirty toys and lock or repair broken play equipment
• remind kids or guardians of Kidspace rules and encourage them to keep the space operable
• keep emergency exits and restricted areas clear
• answer any questions kids and guardians may have on the phone and in person

You want to know what to expect? Don't fret! At the introduction for Kidspace Angels, we will tell you what to do in case a kid gets lost, a DECT or some lemonade finds its way into the ball pit and where the workshop area or the nursing room are situated.

2. Kidspace Restore: You want to contribute in order to make Kidspace a safe space for kids but prefer it to be a bit less crowded? You excel at cleaning? In this case, you may choose to volunteer before of after operation time. You may be confronted with the following tasks:

• tidy up and clean the Kidspace
• get rid of garbage, bottles and other left-overs of nightly visitors
• collect and store lost items
• look out for any hazards, remove or report them
• look out for broken or dirty toys and lock or repair broken play equipment
• fix security tapes or mark ups

Overall, there less noise tolerance will be needed but a pair of rubber gloves might come in handy (which we will gladly provide).

Please note: Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising their children at all times. Kidspace does not offer organized or professional childcare. Kidspace Angels do not provide any child care.

Please attend one of the Kidspace Angel introductions in order to be able to sign up for shifts.

• Fragen von Kindern und Eltern am Telefon und in Person beantworten

Du willst wissen, was auf dich zukommt? Keine Sorge! Bei der Einführung für Kidspace-Engel erklären wir dir, was zu tun ist, wenn ein Kind verschwunden ist, wenn wieder ein DECT oder eine Limo im Bällebad gelandet ist, wo die Workshops stattfinden und wo sich der Stillraum befindet.

2. Kidspace Restore: Du hast Freude daran, den Kidspace zu einem schönen und sicheren Ort für Kinder zu machen, wenn noch nicht oder nicht mehr ganz zu viel los ist? Beim Aufräumen bist du Profi? Dann bringe dich morgens oder abends im Kidspace ein. Das kann z.B folgende Aufgaben umfassen:

• Kidspace reinigen und aufräumen
• Müll und Flaschen und andere Überreste nächtlicher Besucher_innen entsorgen
• Fundsachen zusammentragen
• Gefahren für Kinder erkennen, abwenden oder Hilfe suchen
• kaputte oder verschmutzte Spielgeräte absperren oder reparieren
• Markierungen erneuern

In dieser Schicht benötigst du etwas weniger Lärmtoleranz, aber dafür vielleicht ein Paar Gummihandschuhe (die stellen wir zur Verfügung).

Kitchen Coordinators introduce the angels to the requirements for working with food. They will also work with other angels while preparing the food.

This is an invitation-only role that can only be obtained by working with us during the event.

We provide non-restricted shifts you can sign up for during the first days of the event, where you can learn gradually, after which we will include you as LOC Angel.

Main Bar Engel bedienen die großen Hauptbars, an denen Tschunk und Spirituosen vorbereitet und ausgeschenkt werden. Aus rechtlichen Gründen müssen alle Main Bar Engel mindestens 18 Jahre alt sein. Die Schichten an den Hauptbars sind länger als normale Barschichten und erfordern daher eine gute Fitness.

Folgende Aufgaben werden dich erwarten (diese Liste erhebt keinen Anspruch auf Vollständigkeit):

• Limetten schneiden
• Kühlschränke und Kühlwägen befüllen
• Allgemeine Aufgaben im Bar Backstage
• Tschunk vorbereiten
• Getränke verkaufen

Main Bar Angels staff the large main bars preparing and serving Tschunk and liquor. Due to legal reasons, all Main Bar Angels must be at least 18 years old. The shifts on the main bars are longer than usual bar shifts and thus require good fitness.

The following tasks will await you (this list is not exhaustive):

• Cutting limes
• Stocking refrigerators and refrigerated trailers
• General tasks in the bar backstage area
• Preparing Tschunk
• Selling beverages

The team for the Membership Desk has been formed long time before the congress starts. Every member of the team has to fullfill trainings and lessons during this preparation time. If you have not been choosen to join the team until now, it makes no sense to apply. Sorry.

The mentalists support speakers, guests, and moderators who need assistance. Typical use cases include stage fright, performance anxiety, and uncertainty regarding talk content, structure, or presentation.

We offer mediation when on conflicts between speakers and the conference organisation, or among speakers internally. On stage related emergencies, from technical issues to complete no-shows, we improvise to ensure a smooth flow of the program.

You can find us at SHOC, working hand in hand with Speakers Desk and the Heralds.

We are currently fully staffed and might not be able to schedule you a shift this time. If you believe you could contribute, reach out to ysf. We can't offer full training, prior experience in teaching, nonviolent communication, stage performance, mediation, psychology, entertainment, improvisation or alike is beneficial.

Wir sind zZ Überbesetzt und können keine weiteren Schicht anbieten. Wenn du glaubst, dass du gut zu uns passen könntest, melde dich gerne bei ysf, sei es für zukünftige Events. Ein Vollabdeckendes Training ist in der kurzen Zeit nicht möglich, deshalb sind Vorerfahrung in Lehre, gewaltfreier Kommunikation, Bühnenarbeit, Mediation, Psychologie, Entertainment, Improvisation oder Vergleichbar von Vorteil.

Provide Support to Attendees with Network Issues, covering both common and uncommon issues. Networking knowledge is not required but welcome. If you are interested in helping out, come by at the Helpdesk.

This group of people is responsible for the operation of the phone infrastructure and manage the POC Helpdesk.

Phone help desk supports POC with customer support - register DECTs, configure SIP accounts and solve telephony related problems. You need a laptop and an account in Eventphone's Guru3 system. Moreover, it would be good if you already have some experience with the Eventphone telephony system. You are not confused by abbreviations such as DECT, SIP or GSM. Having/bringing your own DECT is helpful but not strictly required.

POC will offer introductions (at day 0 and 1) for the usual work at the POC help desk and the administration interface of the telephony system. Please attend one of the introductions to be confirmed here.

A postage consultant takes care about general basic questions of interested people and event visitors to answer them accordingly and explain the concept of mail delivery.

Press angels accompany the press and take care that rules are respected. They show the press around, lead them to points of interest and answer basic questions.

Press Coordinators manage the press room and take care that all arriving press is set up with press badges and Press Angels until they leave. They connect press to interview partners (like CCC spokespeople) and answer the room phone. If there are any press-related problems, they help.

These shifts are for Angels who have experience from the registration desk / ticket scanning from prior years. On days 0 and 1, the registration desk will get very busy and is a rough terrain for newcomers, so we restrict these shifts to people who have done this before. Our lonely long night shifts are also reserved for angels with prior experience.

Die Sendezentrum-Audioengel sind verantwortlich für das Audio im Livestream, die PA-Anlage im Saal sowie die Mehrspuraufnahme in Reaper/Ultraschall für die Podcaster:innen. Dazu gehört auch das Einpegeln und Überwachen der Headset-Mikrofone sowie das Starten und Überwachen der Backup-Aufnahme direkt am Mischpult. Am Tag 1 (13 Uhr) findet ein verpflichtendes Einführungstreffen an der Sendezentrum-Bühne (Saal X07) statt, in dem wir euch alle Handgriffe genau erklären. Kurz danach bestätigen wir eure Rolle als Sendezentrum-Audioengel, sodass ihr sofort eure Audio-Magie entfalten könnt.

Englische Version: The Sendezentrum Audio Angels are responsible for the audio in the livestream, the PA system in the hall, and the multitrack recording in Reaper/Ultraschall for the podcasters. This also includes setting levels and monitoring the headset microphones, as well as starting and monitoring the backup recording directly at the mixing console. On Day 1 (1 pm), there will be a mandatory introduction meeting at the Sendezentrum stage (Hall X07), where we will explain all the procedures in detail. Shortly after, we will confirm your role as a Sendezentrum Audio Angel, so you can immediately start spreading your audio magic.

As a Shift Coordinator you are the main contact person for other Angels. You staff Heaven's desk and solve a lot of problems and questions independently or in a team. At the same time you take care that all other shifts are covered. If you can react spontaneously while the phone is ringing constantly and 23 Angels require your attention, and you still have fun, you are the right person for the job.

If you want to become a Shift Coordinator, you'll need to become a Shift Coordinator Trainee first. Please watch the meeting news for our introduction meeting. Make sure to bring a device that enables you to work with the Engelsystem during the shift.

Shift Coordinator Trainees will be trained to be Shift Coordinators. The team's working language as well as most direct communication with angels is held in German. Therefore, we require German language skills.

Dies ist der Einstieg in die Arbeit als Shift Coordinator. Wegen der hohen Menge an Erfahrungen und Wissen, die ein Shift Coordinator braucht, haben wir ein Trainee-Programm aufgesetzt. Dabei werden Trainees während der Schichten stets von einem erfahrenen Shift Coordinator begleitet.

Als Trainee suchen wir Menschen, die schon etwas Kongress-Erfahrung haben, also keine Erst-Besuchenden sind. Ein neuer Trainee wird das Programm höchstwahrscheinlich nicht während des Kongresses abschließen. Daher solltest du dir sicher sein, dass du auch die Kongresse in den nächsten Jahren besuchen willst. Die Arbeit als Shift Coordinator (Trainee) beinhaltet die Bedienung diverser Web-Tools, insbesondere des Engelsystems. Dafür musst du ein eigenes Gerät (z. B. Laptop) mitbringen.

Voraussetzung für die Freischaltung als Trainee ist der Besuch unserer Einführungsveranstaltung. Diese wird im Engelsystem bekanntgegeben. Allerdings werden wir nur eine begrenzte Anzahl an neuen Trainees aufnehmen können, um mit unseren vorhandenen Kapazitäten alle Trainees betreuen zu können.

Signal Angels provide an interface between the extended audience from the Internet by asking questions submitted via chat in the Q&A section of a talk. In addition, they forward feedback from stream viewers to the VOC in real-time in case of technical issues with the live stream. There will be introduction meetings on days 0, 1, and also later if required.

Späti Angels sell goods behind the bar. But these shifts are different from other bar shifts. Späti also sells lots of everyday things. This includes things like tobacco, snacks, personal hygiene products (lube, tampons, body wash etc.) and the usual drinks. There is no Tschunk at this bar, though.

Work with us if you like punk & adjacent music, handing out a wide range of products and hanging out right above the entrance.

You must be at least 18 years old to work this shift, as we sell alcohol and tobacco.

Für unsere Schichten musst du 18 Jahre alt sein, da wir unter anderem alkoholische Getränke und Tabak im Angebot haben.

The Späti Coordinator Angel works behind the bar like a Späti Angel, but is also responsible for organizing the supply of drinks and goods. During the first/last shift of the day, you also manage to boot and shutdown the Späti. You should already have experience with some Späti Angel shifts during former events.

Ein Späti-Coordinator-Engel steht hinterm Tresen wie der Späti-Engel, kümmert sich aber auch um Getränke- und Warennachschub. Außerdem organisierst du bei der ersten/letzten Schicht des Tages jeweils Auf- oder Abbau des Spätis. Du solltest am besten bei vorherigen Veranstaltungen schon mal Späti-Schichten absolviert haben.

Being an Angel at the Speakers' Desk requires fluency in both English and German. Please read the German description.

Du bist am Speakers' Desk und sorgst dafür, dass sich die Vortragenden wohlfühlen. Du begrüßt die Speaker, stehst für Fragen zur Verfügung und bist generell ansprechbar. Du kochst Kaffee und Tee und sorgst dafür, dass die Kekse nicht aus gehen. Probleme löst du entweder selbst oder gibst sie schleunigst weiter.

Du solltest freundlich auftreten und sowohl verbal als auch schriftlich fließend auf Deutsch und Englisch kommunizieren können. Außerdem solltest du grundsätzlich verstehen, wie Chaos-Events im Allgemeinen und der Congress im Besonderen funktionieren.

Am Speakers' Desk kann im Sitzen geengelt werden. Du benötigst einen Laptop und bedienst verschiedene Software-Systeme zur Organisation der Vorträge.

Um Angel am Speakers' Desk zu werden, komm bitte an Tag 0 um 19:00 Uhr kurz (ca. 15 Minuten) bei uns vorbei. Dort vereinbaren wir individuelle Einführungstermine (ca. 1 Stunde) für einen späteren Zeitpunkt.

The Samowarwachen are experienced Speakers' Desk Angels and manage shifts at the Speakers' Desk.

Die Samowarwachen sind erfahrene Speakers' Desk Angel und leiten die Schichten am Speakers' Desk.

Stage Management Angels coordinate all teams and angels that are involved in lecture hall operations, with the goal that every lecture goes as smoothly as possible.

They take care of many behind-the-scenes tasks, such as making sure that all required teams are present and ready for a talk to start, coordinating hall access and defragmentation, handling time keeping and dealing with any unexpected situations that may arise.

During a shift, a team of Stage Management Angels is responsible for a specific lecture hall (Saal) and all the talks taking place during that time. Each shift is approximately 4 hours long.

For onboarding, new team members will be assigned to shifts together with more experienced Stage Management Angels.

There will be a mandatory introduction meeting on Day 0 at 19:00 in Saal G. Please come to the SHOC desk (located next to the Speakers' Desk), if you were not able to attend this meeting but want to join the team, we will see what we can do.

Neue Teammitglieder werden zur Einarbeitung mit erfahrenen Stage-Management-Engeln in Schichten eingeteilt.

Am Tag 0 wird es um 19:00 Uhr in Saal G ein verpflichtendes Einführungsmeeting geben. Bitte kommt zum SHOC-Desk (neben dem Speakers' Desk), wenn ihr es verpasst habt, werden wir schauen, was wir noch machen können.

This year, we'll focus on providing high-quality subtitle tracks for the released videos. We will not provide any live subtitles for talks.

We will use an automated speech recognition system to provide you with a draft of a talk's transcript. Your task will be to listen to the talk and correct mistranscriptions in the transcript.

We don't require that you are a fast typist. You will need to bring your own laptop and ideally a pair of wired headphones.

PS. We are a new team, so expect it to be a bit chaotic 🤪

Coordinating the Subtitles Team

Translation Angels provide simultaneous interpretations at Chaos events. If you are fluently bilingual, please consider joining our team. Not every person interested in the content at Congress is able to understand German and/or English. Our mission is to remove that language barrier and make the talks available to an international audience.

We aim to interpret all talks in the main halls. German talks are interpreted into English and vice versa. Additionally, we interpret many talks into more languages like French, Spanish, Italian, Mandarin, Arabic, Polish and many others, depending on availability of interpreters and other considerations.

Our work is transmitted live in the lecture halls, streamed to the Internet and recordings are published on media.ccc.de and YouTube.

There are a lot of talks to translate, and for that we need YOU! If you have never done this type of work before but find it tempting, and you feel good about your language skills, please give it a try. We’ll show you anything you need to know and will jump in when you are struggling. It’s great fun and there’s a good chance that you'll get the hang of it quickly.

Becoming a Translation Angel:

If you mark yourself as a translation angel through the list of types in the Engelsystem, you will not immediately become a member because this type is “restricted”. Newcomers will be approved starting with our kick-off meeting on day 0 (see below).

Meetings:

• Day 0 welcome and kick-off: day 0 (Friday 26 December) in hall 6, 19:00–21:00 (welcome for newcomers) and 21:00–23:00 (kick-off). This will be the official introduction to the team and to our work. During the kick-off part we will also do our first shift assignment. Please do your best to make it possible for you to attend this meeting.
• Daily meetings on Day 1–3, 18:15–19:15 in hall D (we'll try our best to get it done as quickly as possible). This is our meeting for shift distribution and “any other business”.

Video mixer angels operate our home-built video mixing software voctomix to provide a pleasant recording and live-stream to viewers everywhere. It’s your decision when to show which source (slides or a camera) and in which image composition. As we do a “live-on-tape” recording, the live-stream feed will also become the recording after adding an intro. You also need to communicate with the camera angels via intercom to request the shots you need and let them now before you get their picture live.

Notes on the procedure this year

We would like to give every video mixer angel the opportunity to gain confidence in dealing with our setup. Since we couldn’t provide enough shifts in the past, we will probably need to limit the amount of video mixer angels to ensure that every angel can do a handful of shifts during the event.

We especially encourage people that are already experienced with our gear from previous events (also smaller ones like GPN, Easterhegg, …) to register by clicking “join” as soon as you know that you want to support us.

There will be a short mandatory introduction meeting at day 0. We’ll confirm you as video angel shortly after the meeting. Additionally, please expect the video mixer shifts will be distributed each day for the following day in a mandatory meeting during the evening break (6:15 PM).
